The site is situated in the eastern suburbs with a prime view of the Harbour Bridge and the city CBD. The proposal comprised of a second level addition to a four bedroom Californian bungalow with a new landscaped area and double garage to the steeply inclined front yard. The scheme sought to capture the vista through a modulation of the internal spatial configuration, by exposing key external elements and maintaining intimacy internally.
A simple fold and shift in the roof structure provides variation in the upper volume, opening the northern end whilst framing the view from the southern lounge area. The upper volume looks out across a planted rooftop which contains a number of native grasses and shrubs and gives a tree house effect to living area.
